Holl, Geraldine Wilson "Jerry" Family and friends mourn the passing of Geraldine Wilson Holl (Jerry) in her 94th year on June 3, 2021. Born at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California to Frederic Barlow Wilson and Hazel Brewer Wilson on August 20, 1926. She grew up in St. Paul, MN, graduated from the Visitation Convent and attended the University of St. Catherine and the University of Minnesota where she met her husband of 72 years, Justin Theodore Holl (Justy), the love of her life on the steps of Falwell Hall. Together they raised five children and nurtured many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was courageous for the times having traveled to New York as a single young woman at the age of 18 with no connections and working in a prestigious law firm. At the age of 20 she was employed as an illustrator at Ryan Aeronautical Company in San Diego. Her love of travel and excitement never diminished and with her husband she was as much at home in Europe or Crimea as she was rafting down the Colorado River, sailing in the Caribbean, or traversing the Great Plains more than forty times. Always up for adventure, together Jerry and Justy drove through Mexico twice, 6000 miles each time, when few people would hazard such an exciting trip. They spent 43 winters in San Diego among numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Jerry's outgoing and engaging personality contributed to her successful antique business in Chanhassen Minnesota for many years where she was well known for her knowledge and appreciation of styles across time and cultures. Her creativity carried into civic activities in and around Lake Minnetonka. She taught art history to students at St. John the Baptist grade school and was a past president of the Excelsior - Lake Minnetonka Historical Society and collaborated as a co-author, editor and designed the artwork for several publications on Lake Minnetonka history. No single concept captures the breadth of her interests. She will be forever remembered, in addition to her beauty and elegance, for her exceptional ability to see nature with an artistic eye, being a member of a family of distinguished landscape and portrait painters, which includes Nicholas, Edward, Hazel, and Myrtle Brewer. Justy's love, devotion, and care ensured that she left peacefully in their home of 62 years in Tonka Bay, MN. Notably it was Jerry who had seen the potential of an old cottage on a hill on Gideon's Bay with red siding, a blue roof, and white trim, surrounded by a sea of weeds, that prompted the family to move from St. Paul and created the long legacy of the family at the lake. We miss her profoundly, but celebrate a loving and rewarding life which brought joy and happiness to those who knew her. She lived a vibrant life with grace and style and was a dedicated mother to her whole family. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Justin Theodore Holl, her children Pamela (Michael Ferderer) Holl, Justin Theodore (Nataliya), Steve (Cathy), Jerry (Suzanne), Susan (Mark) Bowers, 12 grandchildren: Peter Norgaard, Margaret Schaefer, Theresa Holl, Anne Holl, Olga Kahn, Michael Holl, Daniel Holl, David Holl, Julia Holl, Justin Holl, Erik Bowers and Sara Bowers and 7 great-grandchildren.
