Cook (Madison-Cook), Kiara Louise of Minneapolis died peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 2, 2020, just weeks before her 24th birthday. Kiara was surrounded by fierce love in her brave and relentless battle to overcome her health challenges. Her life was lost too early from complications of addiction, diabetes, and depression. She shined bright in this world and filled every room she entered with an abundance of joy and laughter. With her wit and charm, she had an uncanny ability to always say the perfect words, tell the perfect joke, or do the perfect silly thing to make all in her presence feel at ease and welcomed (and usually sore from side-splitting laughter). This was especially true for all of the children in Kiara's life that she adored and showered with love and attention, including her little brother, Finn, who she doted over since the day he was born. Although she struggled with her own health challenges, Kiara was always the first to show up to offer unconditional love and support to anyone in need. She lived fearlessly & unapologetically as her full and true self and never bent to others' definitions of who she should be or how she should behave. She was empathic and brave and always stood up for others and spoke out against injustice and mistreatment. Kiara was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Colleen Cook, who lost her life to cancer just over a year ago. In addition to friends and family, both biological and chosen, that is far too long and wide to list, Kiara was survived by her brother, Finn Jensen and his mother, Lisa Jensen; sister, Mariel Reed; father, Mir'khan Madison; grandparents, Bob & Mimi Cook; uncle and aunt, Tom & Cindy Cook; aunt, Molly Cook and brotherly cousin, Diego Juarez. Although this world has truly lost a special spark, and she will forever be missed, we are comforted knowing she is free from suffering and resting in peace and in power with her mother. May Kiara forever inspire us all to live a little more truthfully, love a little more fiercely, and laugh a lot more often. Kiara will be remembered and buried on her birthday with her mother at Lakewood Cemetery, October 26, 2020 at 10 AM. We ask that all in attendance wear masks and practice social distancing guidelines.
