She married Richard Verthein in 1970 and, together, raised two sons, Jeffrey (Baltimore, MD) and Scott (Milwaukee, WI). Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Edward. Barbara was a loving daughter, wife, and mother. She was an exceptional and well-loved friend to many people. Neighbors, co- workers, friends; the ultimate giver, she offered her help, support, and care for everyone that she knew. This included cooking, where she was famous for her pies made with her special crust. She was very active in her church community and Women's Guild. She was easy to laugh and ready for adventure, loved travelling and spending time with her girlfriends and family. She adored the singing birds and the sun through the trees. Happy to the end, she dealt with her journey with grace and grit. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
