Fields, Bernice Lenora aged 76, of Minneapolis, Minnesota died peacefully July 18th after a battle with a cancer. Bernice was born on May 5th, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas.

She attended Sumner High School. Bernice earned her Bachelor’s Degree in education from Kansas State College. She began teaching in Kansas City and then moved to New York City where she continued to flourish as an educator. In 1968 Bernice and her former husband moved to Brussels, Belgium with their newborn baby daughter. In 1976 Bernice returned to the States and earned her Juris Doctor in 1979 from the University of Minnesota. Bernice practiced law for forty years specializing in workplace bullying.  She was a member of the Minnesota Bar Association, Hennepin County Bar Association, Conflict Resolution and was one of the founders of the Minnesota Black Women Lawyers Network. Bernice was an avid stamp collector and belonged to the American Philatelic Society. She enjoyed yoga, the theater, sewing, card making and scrapbooking. She was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Bernice Fields is preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth Fields, Ronald Ray Chambers, and Richard Fields. She is survived by her brother Walter Fields (Julie) (MN), Sue Fields Tolliver (Stephen) (MD), her daughter Christyanna Egun (Al Badger), grandsons Grayson and Julian Badger (Boston, MA), nieces and nephews Keith Chambers, Thomas McAlester Chambers, Kenneth Fields, Jr., Tyrone Fields, Sylvia Fields, Kayla Callaway Fields, Sherron Fields- Willis, Jerome Fields, Courtney Tolliver and Mackenzie Tolliver. 

In following her wishes, Bernice will to be cremated with no service to follow. If you would like to honor Bernice the family is asking that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society in her name.
