Bockelman, Carolyn (Moore) Age 88, of Spring Park, passed away peacefully on June 2 from dementia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Lee Moore and Gertrude Parker Moore, her cherished daughter Carolyn (Lynne) Bolick-Carlson, and her beloved husband Wilfred (Bill) Bockelman. She is survived by sons Robert Bolick, Jr. and family, Mark Bolick and family, David Bolick and wife Danie Watson, Lynne's children Dustin and Paige Carlson, stepdaughters Rev. Karen Bockelman and family, and Marla Schoenfelder and family. Carolyn was born Dec. 14, 1931 in Union County, NC. She graduated from Burlington High School and attended Elon College. In 1951, she married her first husband, R. Earl Bolick (deceased), and they happily raised four children together. In 1972, the family moved from Greensboro, NC to Edina, MN. Later in life, Carolyn earned a degree in human services with an emphasis in volunteer management from Metropolitan State University. She worked at Bethesda Lutheran Hospital as Director of Volunteer Services, then in that role for HealthEast. She served as President of the MN Council of Directors of Healthcare Volunteers, and on the National Board of the American Society of Directors of Volunteer Services. Carolyn remarried in 1987. She and Bill Bockelman were members of Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, and Lutheran Church of Good Shepherd, both in Edina. Carolyn was very active in church all her life, singing in the choir and serving in respected leadership and teaching positions. Many of Carolyn's award-winning liturgical banners hang in the churches to which she belonged. Carolyn will be remembered for her service and kindness to others, her poise and grace, her ready smile, and her devotion to family. May she rest peacefully in God's embrace.
