Fred Henry Hunt

Hunt, Fred Henry Age 82, of Maple Grove, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 28th, 2020. Fred was born in Duluth, MN to John George and Anna (Holmberg) Hunt, and was later fostered by Bruno and Fran Johnson of Floodwood, MN. He graduated from Floodwood High School in 1957 and enlisted in the Air Force where he was deployed to Iceland & various states across the country as a heavy equipment operator. After leaving the Air Force he married Irene Okerlund in 1961. Their union was blessed with 4 children, Mark, Bonnie, Brenda, and Lori. Fred worked as a Tube Machine Operator for L&M Radiator and Shift Supervisor at Super Radiator Coils. For hobbies they enjoyed gardening and spending time visiting friends and relatives. They loved time spent with their grandchildren fishing in their backyard and cooking them pancakes and waffles. Places they lived include: New Brighton, Esko, Hibbing, New Hope, Brooklyn Park, Otsego, Champlin, and Maple Grove. Fred was kind, caring, and compassionate. He had a love of helping others which shined through even in his final days. He is joining the love of his life, and wife of 50 years, Irene; siblings, Bob (LaMae) Hunt & Peggy Burns; sister-in-laws, Shirley & Helga Hunt; and brother-in-law, Richard Russell. Survived by children, Mark (Kris) Hunt, Bonnie (Perry) Lease, Brenda (Steve) Smith, Lori Zupfer (fiancée, Arlo Mathison); grandchildren, Adam (Sam) Hunt, Tony Hunt, Julia Hunt, Christopher Monacelli, Amanda Monacelli, David Monacelli, Derek Smith, Chelsea (Daniel)Merritt, Heather (Adam) Huotari, Zachary Zupfer, Alexa Zupfer; great grandchildren, Chloe, Cyia, Emma, Huck, Sawyer, Sadie & Brooklynne; siblings, Lester Hunt, John (Marie) Hunt , Ted Hunt, Lois Robert, Ginger Russell; former son-in-law, Andrew Zupfer; many nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. Private family funeral service at 10 AM on Friday, June 12th. Burial at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth. Please show your support to the family by joining them in a live stream of the service.
