Ramsey, Robert D. "Lifelong educator, free-lance writer and advocate for Vital Aging" Age 86, of St. Louis Park, passed away May 14th, 2020 surrounded in faith by his family. Preceded in death by his sister Betty Patzkowsy, and his cherished wife of 63 years, Joyce Ramsey. He was born in Kansas during the Dust Bowl and raised during World War II by a single mother. After living with his sister and her family during his high school years, he attended college where Bob earned three degrees including his doctorate degree in education from the University of Kansas. He taught English and History in Topeka, Kansas schools and worked as a school administrator in Minnesota, retiring from the St. Louis Park school district as Associate Superintendent after 25 years of service. His contributions to SLP students, teachers, staff, friends, and community causes touched many lives. He published 30 professional and self-help books focused on education, teaching, and vital aging. Bob authored a monthly column for many years focused on vital aging as a guest columnist for the Sun Sailor. He pursued many joys in life including community building he received the "St. Louis Park Outstanding Citizen Award" in 2012. Bob and Joyce served as the SLP Senior Ambassadors in 2007-2008 and loved promoting SLP at city parades around the metro and state. One of his favorite chapters in retirement was his role as Santa Claus played at Ridgedale and Southdale malls. He always looked good in red. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he lived as a role model for all. Survived by son Jeffrey (JoElle) Ramsey, daughter, Kimberly Ramsey; grandchildren, Adam Fredericks, Nathaniel (Kelly) Ramsey, Daniel (Mariana) Ramsey, and Madeline Ramsey.
