Christiansen, George "Jo" Edward age 74, passed away on May 15, at his home in St. Louis Park surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years and high school sweetheart, Janice Christiansen (Murray); children Jill (Mark) Mironer and Jodi (Nate) Herman; grandchildren Brian and Mae Mironer and Olivia, Eli and Samuel Herman; as well as brothers Walter (Angelika) and Richard (Vicki) Christiansen. Born in Minneapolis he attended Hopkins High School before graduating from St. Cloud State University. He spent his early career working for Phillips Petroleum before working for Allstate Insurance company and then opening his own agency, Southwest Insurance. He was active politically and a dedicated supporter and advocate for the St. Louis Park public schools, serving on the PTSA and for more than a decade on the School Board, including time as President of the Board. He took great joy in the achievements of his children and grandchildren and in spending time at Breezy Point in northern Minnesota driving the boat, snowmobiling, cooking and playing cards. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and devotion to his family. A private ceremony for immediate family will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 11am at Edina Morningside Community Church.
