Johnson, Kenneth E. Age 91 of Chelsea, Michigan (formerly of Bloomington, MN) passed away on April 4, 2020 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. Kenneth (Ken) was born January 21, 1929 in St. Paul, MN, the son of Edwin B. & Helen (Larkey) Johnson. He was a graduate of Granite Falls, MN High School and continued his education at Hamline University and the University of Minnesota. While serving in the National Guard from 1951-1952, Ken married Vionne Formo, also of Granite Falls. Ken's 32-year career in sales and creative marketing with Northwestern Bell/AT&T spanned the post-war history of the telecommunication industry, and included family transfers to New Jersey, Iowa, Minnesota, and Kansas City. Ken and Vi enjoyed travel: "all fifty states" and Europe. "Kenny's" warmth and humor endeared him to all: he was a famous storyteller with an encyclopedic repertoire of Sven and Ole jokes. He delighted in bridge with friends and games with his grandchildren who will remember him as "Skip-Bo King." A member of Dexter United Methodist Church and former Deacon and Elder of Hope Presbyterian Church in Richfield, MN, Ken was also a spirited chorister. The much cherished head of a devoted family, Ken leaves behind his beloved wife of 68 years, Vionne; Wendy (Bill Smith) of New York City; Scott (Tamra) of Chelsea; daughter-in-law Laurie Clark of Providence, RI; and seven grandchildren: Joseph (Marelly), Daniel (Leslie), Natalie, Matthew (MaryAnn), Andrew, Ben, and Mabel. Ken was pre-deceased by his son, Dr. David Johnson. The family's celebration service of Ken's life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity-of-choice in Kenneth's name.
