George Krahn Behnke

Behnke, George Krahn died on December 25th, 2019, after an 18-month battle with stage IV prostate cancer. He was 66. Originally from Kaukauna, WI, George graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1975, then moved to the Twin Cities where he was a software engineer at Sperry, Cray Research, Silicon Graphics Inc., and then Cray again. After retiring in 2008 George was able to focus fully on his true calling, working with and mentoring high school students. In 2010 he restarted Eagan High School's Computer Science program, growing it from one AP class of 28 students to two different classes with three sections of nearly 100 students today. And he did it all as a volunteer. In addition he worked in the ITC department at EHS, ensuring all of the computers and technology were always working throughout the school. George was also a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a diehard Packers and Badgers fan. He is survived by his wife, Pam Behnke, his daughter Laura Behnke and her husband Marc Fowler (Brooklyn, New York), his son Luke Behnke and his wife Camilla Behnke along with their children Benjamin and Cecilia Behnke, as well as a baby on the way due on George's birthday 3/3 (Larkspur, CA). He will be honored with a Celebration of Life on January, 12th, from 2-4pm at Eagan High School, 4185 Braddock Tr.
