William T. Lawler, Sr.

Lawler, William T., Sr. 9-25-1936 - 11-17-2019 Bill Lawler Sr, of Columbia Heights and Spicer, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and beloved family after living with multiple myeloma for 12 years and aggressive prostate cancer for 1 year. He was born in Willmar, MN, to Willis and Lottie Lawler, graduated from Willmar High School and the University of Minnesota with an Electrical Engineering degree. He started his career with Westinghouse in Baltimore, MD, & retired from Honeywell in Mpls. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol (Smisek) & children: Bill (JoEllen), Tom (Ann Marie), Mary (Terry Scholl), Patty (Jim Pray), Jim, Ann (Ken Redepenning), John (Kathy), Mike (Sarah), & Steve (Cindy). Grandchildren: Billy, Ellie & Robby Lawler; Christine, Kevin & Natalie Lawler; David, Matthew & Jessica Pray; Mitch, Genna (Matthew Pendleton), Nick & Jack Lawler; Bethie, Rachel, Josh & Megan Redepenning; Samantha (Bryce Takemoto), Jack, Lauren & Luke Lawler; Hailey & Colby Lawler. Great-grandchildren: Brylee & Aria Takemoto. Sister: Marge Orsten; brother-in-law: Don Hazuka & many nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Darlene Hazuka, father & mother-in-law Dr Frank & Cecelia Smisek & brother-in-law Frank Smisek, Jr. A special thank you to all our family for their exceptional care & love. Visitation, Monday Nov. 25 from 5-8pm at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley. Mass of Christian Burial on Tues, Nov 26 at 10am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 4030 Jackson Street NE, Columbia Heights. Visitation at the church 1 hour prior to service. Private interment at Gethsemane Cemetery New Hope. Memorials may be directed to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, The American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
