Marguerite 'Maggie' Hessian-Gatz
Hessian-Gatz, Marguerite "Maggie" age 94 of Belle Plaine, MN peacefully passed away October 24, 2019. A graduate of Belle Plaine High School, St. Catherine University, and University of Minnesota with a Master's in Education, Marguerite became a nursing professor and Chair of the Nursing Department at St. Catherine University while being a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph. After retirement she enjoyed traveling and Pastoral Ministry at Pax Christi Catholic Community. In 2001, Marguerite married Robert Gatz, also from Belle Plaine, and enjoyed their life together traveling and being grateful for many friends and family surrounding them. She is survived by loving husband, Bob; stepchildren Mary, Paul, Bill, Jim: grandchildren, Ashley (Tyler), Brianna, Trevor, Emily, Jenna, Aspen; dear friend Rosa; nieces/nephews, Mary Jane Simpson, Bridget Price, Marguerite Foster, Patrick and Mark Sheffer; extended family and friends dear to her heart. Preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Margaret (Nash) Hessian; siblings, Mary (Tom) Rittenhouse, Julie (John) Sheffer, Arthur (Kitty) Hessian. A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 4th at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church, Belle Plaine, MN. Fr. Roger Hessian, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Belle Paine. Memorials preferred to Doctors Without Borders and Catholic Relief Services.
