Swenson, Fred A. Fred passed away peacefully on October 6th. He was preceded in death by beloved wife of 73 years, Carole, parents, Norman and Frances Swenson; brother, Wes; grandson, Dane Swenson; son-in-law, Pelle Lindquist, and daughter-in-law, Rose Swenson. Fred is survived by his daughter, Reidun Lindquist Canon (Rod); sons, Dan Swenson and Chuck Swenson (Ric); and brother, Tom. He adored his grandchildren, Lindsey Swenson-Lee (Gordon), Brett Swenson (Diana), Kelsey Swenson, Elyse Urchipia (Leo), Kirsten Lindquist Rowe (Scott), & Erik Lindquist (Brittany). His legacy lives on through nine much loved great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Mackenzie, Addison, Olivia, Cooper, Aurora, Alex, Savannah and Logan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was born on Dec. 21, 1923 in Ogilvie, Minnesota, where he eventually met his high school sweetheart, Carole. During World War II, he attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey, while being an officer's candidate in the U.S. Navy. Carole and Fritz were married July 1, 1945, and settled in Minneapolis, where he finished his education at the University of Minnesota with a degree in electrical engineering. He then began his 29-year career at Honeywell as an aeronautical engineer, with a highlight of being instrumental in missile guidance for the Apollo lunar missions. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the great outdoors, and was also a devoted environmentalist. He & Carole enjoyed much travel, as well as playing bridge over fifty years with many dear friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 14, 11 am at Westwood Lutheran Church, 9001 Cedar Lake Road, St. Louis Park, Minnesota. A luncheon reception will follow at the church. Private inurnment. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to donors' choice, if so desired.
