Bakke, John L. Age 91, of Mpls., passed away September 30, 2019. Preceded in death by parents, stillborn baby, son Steve and spouse Lois. He and Lois were married 64 years before her passing in 2012. After the army, John worked in personnel for Durkee Atwood, the city of Rochester and IBM. He retired from IBM in 1990. John was active in the Rochester community and involved with Salvation Army, Rotary, Samaritan Bethany, Rochester Covenant church and others. John left Rochester in 2016 to be closer to his daughter. Faith, family and friends were important to him. He enjoyed talking with people and learning about their lives. He had a sense of humor. He was a reflective person. John enjoyed travel, fishing, reading and music. Survived by daughter Mary Ellen Himple of Chanhassen, six grandchildren, many great grandchildren. Memorial service Saturday, October 12th, 1 PM at Grace Church, 9301 Eden Prairie Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55347 Door 2. Lunch following the service. Private interment at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Mpls.
