Palkert, Lawrence L. Age 86, of Fridley, passed away October 1, 2019. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert. Larry was born in Winnipeg, Canada on May 13, 1933. He graduated from high school with honors at age 16 and earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He served two years in the U.S. Army and later completed his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. Larry married Gladys McDonald on Dec. 29, 1954. They lived in Germany until the birth of their first of ten children, when they returned to Minnesota, their forever home. Larry was an aerospace engineer for Honeywell for more than 40 years. His job took their family on many great adventures twice to California and once to Sweden. They traveled frequently with their large brood throughout Europe. Larry cherished his service as Deacon for Immaculate Conception Church following his ordination in 1985. Larry's passions were always his faith, his family and the outdoors. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Gladys; their 10 children Jim (Tina), Lori Ann (Michael), Tom (Brenda), Dennis (Jana), David (Jean), Diane, Barb (Jim), Michael, Colleen (Dusty) and Matthew (Jess); their 38 grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his siblings Sister Lois Anne, O.S.F., Lorraine and Philip (Barb). Visitation 4-7 PM Monday, October 7, at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home, 4101 Central Avenue N.E., Columbia Heights. Funeral Mass 10 AM Tuesday, October 8, at Immaculate Conception Church, 4030 Jackson St., Columbia Heights, preceded by visitation at 9 AM. Luncheon to follow Mass.
