Dwight Worthing Thompson

Thompson, Dwight Worthing Dwight W Thompson beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother was called Home to be with the Lord on September 28 at age 90. He was residing in Roseville at the time of his passing but was a longtime resident of St. Anthony Village. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Esther Thompson; his loving wife of 62 years, Carol; and his brothers: Marvin, Quentin and Royce Thompson. Dwight was born in Cooperstown, ND a place he remembered fondly and always referred to as "The Holy Land." He moved to Minneapolis to attend the University of Minnesota where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He obtained his Master's in Aeronautical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Dwight worked for both Honeywell and Control Data Corp in Minneapolis. As a man of deep and abiding faith, he was active in the Covenant Church as an Elder and Board Chair. Recently he was attending Calvary Church, Roseville. Dwight is survived by sons: Dave (Lane), Dan (Debi), Tim (Dawn), Steve (Carol), and ten grandchildren who adored their grandpa. In addition, he is survived by sisters- in-law: Alice and Karla Thompson, Gloria Nelson, Diane Kindall and Kathleen (Marvin) Johnson and brother-in-law, Mark (Sherrill) Nelson. In addition, he is survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the wonderful team at North Memorial Cancer Center for the supportive care Dwight received this last year. Donations in Dwight's honor may be made to either: The University of Minnesota Fdn. - George W Nelson Scholarship Fund or International Association for Refugees (IAFR). Funeral will be Tuesday, October 8th at 11:00AM, Grace Church, 1310 County Road B2 West, Roseville MN.
