Patterson, Donald H. Age 89 of Golden Valley, passed peacefully surrounded by loving family on September 11, 2019. Preceded in death by the love of his life, Shirley. Survived by children, Cindy, Kim Sullivan (John), and Tim. Also beloved brother, Harold (Barbara), nieces and nephew. Originally from Harvey, IL, he served in the Korean War in the 432nd Engineer Construction Battalion. In 1954, he and Shirley were married. While proudly raising their three children, Don made a career in sales and marketing. His professional career began at Columbia Tool in Chicago Heights, IL. A management opportunity with Dennison Manufacturing Co., led him to Tustin, CA. He eventually retired to a life as a movie extra, car show presenter, and professional tour guide. Don cherished his family and community time. After moving to Lino Lakes, MN, in 1993, he and Shirley chose Covenant Living as their final home in 2003. Don was active in the woodworking shop, computer club and Mens' Breakfast Club. He loved attending the Norske Torske Klubben, enjoying fresh cod and Aquavit with good friends. His celebration of life is at Covenant Living in Golden Valley on Monday, September 16th at 10:30 AM. In honor of the wonderful caregiving he received these last two years, memorials preferred to Park Nicollet Hospice or Covenant Living Benevolence Fund.
