Concordia (St. Paul) swept its way to the NSIC tournament championship Sunday, defeating fourth-ranked Southwest Minnesota State 25-21, 27-25, 25-19 in the final at Gangelhoff Center.

Concordia, 29-2 and ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II, won an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. The NCAA will announce tournament pairings Monday.

Concordia's Emma Lange led all players with 17 kills while hitting .400.

She, Emily McDonough and Kasey Williams made the NSIC all-touurnament team, as did Megan Larson and Taylor Reiss of Southwest Minnesota State (26-5).

The Golden Bears captured both the NSIC regular-season and tournament championships for the second year in a row.

Gophers win in 5 sets

The second-ranked Gophers volleyball team beat No. 18 Michigan in five sets, 25-23, 25-23, 23-25, 23-25, 15-12 at the Sports Pavilion.

The Gophers (23-4, 15-3 Big Ten) are unbeaten at home, with matches remaining this week at the Pavilion against Nebraska on Wednesday and Wisconsin on Saturday.

Sarah Wilhite posted a double-double against the Wolverines (21-9, 10-8) with a career-high 26 kills and 13 digs. Setter Samantha Seliger-Swenson put down a career high seven kills, with 55 assists and 13 digs. Dalianliz Rosado had a match-high 24 digs.

UST makes final four

Goals by Tony Kuplic in the 71st and 97th minutes rallied St. Thomas to a 3-2 soccer victory over Redlands and the program's fist trip to the men's national semifinals.

The No. 8-ranked Tommies (20-1-3) trailed 2-0 with 20 minutes to play.
