A man who was killed earlier this week in a north Minneapolis drive-by shooting was identified Thursday.

Eric D. Ferguson, 22, who had no permanent address, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

Ferguson was shot outside in the 3900 block of Fremont Avenue N. on Tuesday. Immediately after the shooting, a car was seen traveling north on Fremont, police said.

No one has been arrested, and police say the violence does not appear to be random.

Initially police were called about 6:30 p.m. to investigate a possible shooting. Ferguson was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where he died less than an hour after being shot, the medical examiner's office said.

His death is the 20th homicide this year in the city. There were 32 in the city all of last year.
