When Gordy the gorilla, a 400-pound western lowland gorilla, suddenly died at his home at the Como Zoo on April 19th, 10 days shy of his 24th birthday, his death was mourned by staff and visitors alike. Now, however, the focus of primate keepers has turned to the two remaining apes, including Gordy's step-brother Schroeder, who has lived almost his entire life by Gordy's side.
