I was too foolish and young at the time to realize what a classy governor Elmer L. Andersen was when he conceded his narrow defeat to Karl Rolvaag back in 1963. Like Norm Coleman, he won, then lost in the recount. Unlike Coleman, though, he thought representation was more important than haggling over a few votes that were not clearly his.
