The storm set to strengthen rapidly across the Northeast on Thursday willcontinue to spread snow across Texas today. The potential exists for over 3inches of snow across central Texas. This includes San Angelo and Waco. Thesnowstorm could make this winter the snowiest ever in Dallas. The city is 2inches shy of setting that record.The snow will continue to create treacherous travel across western and centralTexas today. Motorists on Interstate 20 should use extreme caution.

Since the snow will not get underway until later today over eastern Texas andnorthwestern Louisiana, the heaviest snow totals will be measured on grassy andelevated surfaces. Roads will either remain wet or will turn slushy. These wetor slushy spots will freeze tonight on untreated surfaces as temperatures dropbelow freezing. Bridges and overpasses will be the first to turn icy.

The rain could end with wet snowflakes mixing in from Houston to Birmingham,Ala., tonight. Little, if any, accumulation is expected in Houston. The city'snorthwestern suburbs could receive a coating to as much as an inch. Keep inmind, Houston warmed to a high of 72 degrees on Sunday.
