CoCo will soon open in Uptown.
The unique collaborative workspace concept, which already has locations in St. Paul and Minneapolis, will open a 15,000-square-foot location at the intersection of Lake and Lagoon. Get this: It's in the basement of the CVS drugstore building, the former home of an auto-repair business.
CoCo founder Don Ball says the space provides a blank slate for new work space. "It's a little hidden," he said. "It will be a creative reuse of a difficult space."
CoCo rents space to small businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals who want to work in a creative and collaborative setting.
The new Uptown space will feature a 3,500-square-foot "garage" devoted to "ideation, prototyping and presentations for groups up to 100" people, the group's website says. A taproom with craft beers, movie theater, billiards room, patio, demo booths, conference rooms and a common area are planned, as well.
The space will hold up to 24 single "campsites," 160 co-working seats and nine medium-sized campsites that seat four to six people.
Ball says Uptown will be convenient to existing clients and a draw for potential new ones. "It's a bustling area," he noted, though he declined to quantify renovation costs.
A fall grand opening is expected.
