So will Wendy Dwyer give the Minnesota Vikings an edge when a stadium bill comes before the Senate? Probably not. But in another example of how small the world can be at the State Capitol, Dwyer is the new deputy Secretary of the Senate, making $107,973 a year. She is also the wife of Lester Bagley, the Vikings vice president of public affairs and stadium development who will be a point person as the team seeks a public subsidy package from the House and Senate for a new stadium. "It has nothing to do with stadium, [and] I can assure you it never did," said Secretary of the Senate Cal Ludeman, a onetime Republican gubernatorial candidate and former Gov. Tim Pawlenty's human services commissioner. "She does administrative work. "She doesn't have anything to do with touch[ing] legislation," Ludeman added. Dwyer, who was hired in January, had previously worked at a variety of state jobs. "I'm not involved with her work," said Bagley. "She's not involved in the policy discussions at the Senate. "Her work and role has zero to do with stadium legislation, or my work," he said.
