The torch is passed
In one of his first public comments as Flip Saunders' replacement, Milt Newton paid his respects to his mentor as part of the Wolves' video tribute shown before the home opener on Nov. 2. Newton said with a choked voice:
"I remember the first time you told me you loved me. That really hit me, because usually at this level, people try to keep those type of feelings to themselves. I'm glad you were able to say that while you were here. But I just wanted to tell you: 'I love you, too. Rest in peace.' "
