A Wabasha County resident cleaning debris along the shore of the Mississippi River on Saturday discovered a human leg and foot, authorities reported.
In addition to the femur, the resident also discovered a shoe about 20 feet from the water in West Newton south of Lock and Dam No. 4.
A subsequent search by Wabasha County sheriff's deputies found no other human remains or "items of interest," said Chief Deputy James Warren.
An investigation will remain open pending a report from the local Medical Examiner's Office.
