As this Thanksgiving celebration arrives, it comes like a peaceful interlude during a turbulent year. Many have lost their homes, their jobs, health and savings, some, their lives. This year has been very difficult, and next year will also be challenging. While we celebrate with our families and friends, we should remember that this holiday comes with a history, one of kindness and acceptance of people from all races and religions. We are a conglomeration of immigrants from all over the world, "different" people who have come here to raise their children, working together to build a stronger community and a better life.

How blessed are we to live in a free and open society, in a land of hope and opportunity? We celebrate this Thanksgiving in the warm serenity that our nation's legacy provides us, guarded by America's many patriots, past and present, who have served and continue to serve our country. When the opportunity arises, we can show them our gratitude by "thanking" them personally. And there are others we must thank as well, they are the citizens who make up this great nation, those that are the guardians and the builders of America's future. Today, many of them are in great need, and we must help them though we may be needy ourselves.
Have a happy Thanksgiving, be well, eat and enjoy.
