Paul Rovnak is trading hockey for football.
Rovnak will take over as spokesman for the football team after handling media operations for the university's hockey team the past two years, the university announced Friday. Rovnak replaces Andy Seeley, the new assistant athletic director at Central Florida after four years with the Gophers.
In his new job -- officially, he's associate director of athletic communications -- Rovnak will coordinate media appearances by football coaches and players, publish and distribute information about the team, and act as spokesman. He'll also contribute stories and video to gophersports.com, the university's athletics website.
Rovnak is a 2001 graduate of Ohio State, and has worked in communications for the LPGA and Washington Capitals.
