Anglers heading north, whether to the state's border lakes with Ontario, or into Canada itself, should include in their tackle boxes a few Five of Diamond lures. This includes, especially, paddlers in the BWCA. Shaped as fishing "spoons'' similar to Dardevles, Five of Diamonds lures are yellow with five red "diamonds'' painted on them. They can be killer pike lures, and will catch walleyes. But they are particularly effective while fishing lake trout. I like to carry at least three sizes: #4, #7 and #8.
