A federal judge has shut down a Florida-based telemarketing company that ripped off timeshare owners hoping to unload their properties, the Federal Trade Commission announced Tuesday.

Last month, Whistleblower described how the perpetrators of another timeshare resale scam received criminal sentences. The FTC's action announced Tuesday happened in civil court, but the allegations were similar,

The companies, which went under the names National Solutions LLC and Blue Scape Timeshares, among many others, charged up to $3,150 to people who thought they were selling their timeshares, but instead were only paying the companies to advertise the properties, the FTC said.
