Joey Anderson's first goal at 13 minutes, 48 seconds of the third period was the winner as No. 1 Minnesota Duluth beat host St. Cloud State, ranked No. 8 by USCHO.com, 5-3 on Friday night in the NCHC. He later had an empty-net goal. Alex Iafallo added a goal and two assists for UMD (6-1-2, 3-0 conference). The Huskies (4-3, 0-1) led 3-2 after the first period.

Michigan State 3, Michigan Tech 2 (OT): Mason Appleton's second goal of the game, 1:22 into the extra period, gave the host Spartans (2-4) the win over the Huskies (3-6-2).

Penn State 5 Niagara 1: Andrew Sturtz scored two goals as the No. 14 Nittany Lions (7-1-1) beat the visiting Purple Eagles.

Northern Michigan 5, Wisconsin 2: The host Badgers (4-3) had a 36-17 shot advantage over the Wildcats (3-5-1) but lost.

Michigan 4, Arizona State 1: Will Lockwood scored twice, once shorthanded, to lead the No. 17 Wolverines (4-3-1) over the host Sun Devils (1-8).

Lake Superior State 5, MSU Mankato 1: Marc Michaelis had a shorthanded goal, but the No. 10 Mavericks (6-3, 4-3 WCHA) otherwise couldn't score in a road loss to the Lakers (6-1, 4-1).

Bemidji State 6, Alaska 2: Kyle Bauman and Gerry Fitzgerald each scored twice as the No. 18 Beavers (7-2, 7-0) beat the host Nanooks (3-6, 2-3).
