A fatal fire in a house in south-central Minnesota killed a 64-year-old man whose body was later recovered from what remained of the residence, authorities said.

Firefighters responded shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday to the burning two-story home in the 26200 block of 260th Street just north of Sleepy Eye, the Brown County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Homeowner Glen L. Mangen, was found dead in the house from what a preliminary autopsy determined was smoke inhalation, the Sheriff's Office added.

Another person, 56-year-old Steven Remus, who lives in Sleepy Eye, was treated for smoke inhalation and did not require hospitalization.

The home was fully engulfed in flames by the time emergency responders arrived and it ended up in a collapsed heap by the time the blaze was extinguished.

Authorities said they believe the fire was accidental in nature.
