DFLers Mark Dayton and Matt Entenza launched new campaign ads on Monday, both noting their education initiatives. In Dayton's new spot, he highlights his proposal to raise taxes for Minnesota's highest earners in part to boost funding for education. Entenza takes a shot at GOP rival Tom Emmer and renews his pledge to opt out of the federal No Child Left Behind program. Dayton's 30-second spot is called, "Convictions." Here's the script (with the ad below): He was attacked for standing up against George Bush -- when he voted against the Iraq War. Today he's being attacked for standing up against Tim Pawlenty – saying it's time to raise taxes on the richest Minnesotans. Mark Dayton's had the courage of his convictions his whole career. Now he's the only one who will make the rich pay their fair share of taxes and invest that money in better education for our children. Isn't it time we had a Governor, who stood up for Minnesota? Dayton. Governor. For a better Minnesota. Entenza's 30-second spot is called, "Rip." Here's the script (with the ad below): KID 1: I want to learn. TEACHER 1: I want to teach about science. KID 2: History. TEACHER 2: How to think. KID 1: Not just how to take tests. ANNCR: George Bush's No Child Left Behind is hurting our kids. Tom Emmer supports Bush's failed policy and drastic cuts to education. Matt Entenza and Robyne Robinson's plan? Get rid of No Child Left Behind. Let teachers teach to every child's potential, not just a test. And they'll make sure decisions are made right here in Minnesota, not Washington. ANNCR: Let's make Minnesota great again.
