U.S. Paralympics Track and Field Championships

When: Friday-Sunday

Where: Hamline University, St. Paul

What's at stake: The nation's top Paralympic athletes will be competing for national titles, as well as spots on the rosters for the 2015 IPC athletics world championships in Qatar in October and the 2015 Parapan American Games in Toronto in August.

Schedule: Friday, 8 a.m. (morning session) and 5 p.m. (evening session); Saturday, 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m.

Tickets: $15 at the gate for an all-session pass. Children 9 and under, military members with ID or in uniform, and people with a physical disability are admitted free. Parking is free in Lot B (Drew Lot) on campus.

Minnesota competitors: Edina native Paul Nitz, who has won three Paralympic gold medals and one bronze in the 100 meters, is registered to compete in the 100, 200 and 400 (T52 class). Mark Braun of Mounds View (100, 200, 400, 800 and 1,500, T54 class) won multiple state titles at Irondale High School and was named a U.S. Paralympics high school All-America in 2012. Josh Cinnamo of Apple Valley (discus, shot put and javelin, F46 class) holds the American records in those events. Park Rapids native Aaron Pike (800, 1,500 and 5,000, T54 class) competed in the 2012 Paralympics and was runner-up in the 2013 Twin Cities Marathon. Eric Johnson of Montevideo (100, 200 and long jump, T44 class) was a multisport athlete at Montevideo High School and won a javelin title at the 2013 national championships.
