Bimeda, a maker of pharmaceutical products for animals, agreed to pay a $7,000 fine and spend an additional $58,800 on environmental upgrades after the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency identified hazardous waste violations at its facility, according to the MPCA. The agency found that Bimeda's LeSueur facility failed to properly manage several thousand pounds of hazardous waste by not labeling it, storing it in an open container and improperly disposing of it. The facility also stored flammable materials without having the proper permit, the MPCA said. Bimeda agreed to comply with regulations and spend almost $60,000 to replace lighting and mechanical systems with more energy-efficient units at its LeSueur plant. Read the MPCA's news release here.
