Every weekday, we walk you through what's going on with the Vikings.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED

— Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. saw his appeal get swatted into the bleachers yesterday. He won't play Sunday against the Vikings.

— Running back Adrian Peterson didn't think the suspension is warranted, and he says he reached out to Beckham to offer some encouragement.

— Peterson sat out practice yesterday, but outside linebacker Anthony Barr, safety Harrison Smith and nose tackle Linval Joseph were out on the practice field together for the first time since late November.

— Defensive end Brian Robison, unhappy that Peterson was the team's only Pro Bowl selection, called the all-star game a "popularity contest."

— The Vikings are suing Wells Fargo over some oversized signs.

BEHIND ENEMY LINES

— Did Beckham get off easy? This New York columnist thinks so.

— The Giants will likely turn to Hakeem Nicks to replace Beckham.

— Might it be time for the underachieving Giants to clean house?

TODAY'S VIKINGS SCHEDULE

The Vikings have changed up their usual Thursday practice schedule. They will practice at 11 a.m. instead of the afternoon, giving players a chance to get out of the building faster so they can celebrate the holiday.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Mike Zimmer said yesterday that he is not a big fan of holidays. That's probably because he doesn't get too celebrate many of them due to work commitments. Asked to share one of his Christmas memories, the coach brought up a 31-0 loss to the Titans in 2000 when he was a coach with the Cowboys. "I remember a bad one. Played on Christmas night one time and got clobbered," he said. "I know that's not what you wanted to hear." If that doesn't get you in the holiday spirit this morning, I don't know what will.
