Hitchcock revitalizes Oilers
Preview: The Wild concludes its three-game tour of western Canada against the Oilers. In its previous trip to Edmonton, the team rallied for a 4-3 victory Oct. 30. Since then, the Oilers have ushered in a new coach — Ken Hitchcock — after firing Todd McLellan. Under Hitchcock, the Oilers are 5-2-1.
Players to watch: Captain Connor McDavid has 14 goals and 36 points. Winger Alex Chiasson has a team-high 30.6 shooting percentage. Defenseman Kris Russell’s 76 shot blocks are the second most in the NHL.
Numbers: The Wild is 4-1 in the second game of back-to-backs. Goalie Devan Dubnyk is 9-2 in his career against the Oilers. Edmonton is 7-4-1 on home ice. All but two of the Oilers’ games under Hitchcock have been one-goal finishes.
Injuries: Oilers Fs Drake Caggiula (hand) and Tobias Rieder (upper body) and D Andrej Sekera (Achilles) are out.
