Taylor Corp. has completed its acquisition of Staples Inc.'s commercial printing division.
Terms of the purchase of Staples Print Solutions were not disclosed.
The deal, announced in April, includes about 10 printing facilities belonging to giant office-products retailer Staples. Taylor is expected to cater to many of Staples' commercial clients who need printed annual reports, business brochures, business cards, labels and packaging, as well as digital communications services.
Taylor Corp. and Staples Print have done business together for more than 20 years, making the new union a deal between close associates and one that should help Taylor grow.
"The successful close further strengthens our foundation for future growth," Taylor Corp. CEO Deb Taylor said in a statement. "We are pleased to add this business to our organization that has one of the broadest range of communications services, products and technologies, and an experienced team dedicated to providing the highest quality products and customer service in the industry."
Staples Print Solutions will become part of Taylor's newest subsidiary, called Taylor Communications. It includes the former Standard Register Company, which Taylor Corp. purchased last year in June for $307 million.
Taylor Corp., which is based in North Mankato, is composed of more than 80 companies around the world and is one of the largest privately held firms in the United States. It is owned by Glen Taylor, who also owns the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Star Tribune.
