Works-in-Progress

Anchoring the Red Eye Theater's "New Works 4 Weeks" annual festival, a monthlong incubator of new performance in a variety of disciplines, is the Works-in-Progress (WIP) program, a showcase of emerging artists who have been given five months to develop a new piece with the support of Red Eye's resources. This year's WIP artists use dance to explore immigration and drag to dismantle patriarchy, with live music, an appearance by Nico Swenson's alter ego Candy Darling in a piece about trans bodies in today's media and a work that takes the form of a clinical trial as it delves into the realm of the patient experience. (8 p.m. Thu.-Sat., 7 p.m. Sun., Red Eye Theater, 15 W. 14th. St., Mpls. $10-$15, $8 students, 612-870-0309, redeyetheater.org.)
