CHICAGO - Archbishop Job, 63, who led the Orthodox Church in America in Chicago and the Midwest and was known as a noted iconographer, died Friday, church officials said Saturday.

The Rev. John Adamcio, dean at the church's Holy Trinity Cathedral in Chicago, said the archbishop died at a hospital in Maumee, Ohio. Adamcio said the archbishop was traveling back to Chicago after having meetings in Ohio when he was found unresponsive in his vehicle.

The archbishop was taken to a Maumee hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Adamcio said. A cause of death was not immediately available from church officials, but they said the archbishop had not been feeling well in recent days.

Archbishop Job led about 6,000 church members in 11 states in the Midwest.
