Gretchen Elizabeth Cudworth

Cudworth, Gretchen Elizabeth Age 85, of St. Paul. Surrounded by family, Gret passed peacefully on August 27, 2015. Born in Highland Park, she last resided at Keystone Communities close to her childhood home. She attended University of Minnesota and graduated with a BA in Art History. There she met Roger Logan Cudworth Jr., and they were married in 1951. She continued her studies as she worked for Marian Parsons Interior Design. In the early 1960's Gret partnered with Donna Steiner to form Warren Logan Interiors, which she continued to develop after her partner retired. Among other things, Gretchen was active with the Minnesota, New Century, and University Clubs of St. Paul. As well, she was a member of the St. John's Women's Group and chaired the CHA Decoration Committee for several years. She was instrumental in preserving the Landmark Center. An avid tennis player, needlepoint aficionado, crossword ace, fly-fisherwoman and hostess extraordinaire; Gret was also schooled in French and Chinese cuisine. She embodied elegance, grace and style and will be sorely missed. Preceded in death by parents Harry E. and Helen Kern, brother Harry Lee, and husband Roddy; she is survived by her daughter Betsy Perna (Joe), sons Roger L. III and Peter K. Cudworth; as well as her grandchildren: Rosemary Perna, Logan Erickson-Cudworth, Miles Cudworth, Ian Cudworth (Laura) and great-grand-child Parker James Cudworth. We most gratefully thank mom's care-givers and the staff at Keystone Communities of Highland Park, as well as the HealthPartners Hospice Team. Their thoughtful, loving care for our mother was exceptional. A memorial service will take place at St. John's Evangelist Church at 60 North Kent Street in St. Paul, on Saturday, September 12th at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow in the Fireside Room. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to the St. Paul Children's Hospital Association cha-stpaul.org/ contact-us/, the Minnesota Raptor Center raptor.umn. edu/ or a preferred charity.
