John Stanley Ryden

Ryden, John Stanley 85, formerly of Edina, died on 8/01/15, surrounded by his loving family. John graduated from Roosevelt High School and Augsburg College, where he sang in the choir. He served in the US Army Air Force. An entrepreneur who enjoyed running businesses in the Twin Cities, South Dakota, and Colorado, John was among the first in the metro area to convert an apartment building into a condominium. He loved restoring old cars, boating, jazz and his family. He is survived by his wife Muriel of Minnetonka, son John (Kirsten) of Duluth, and daughters Jennifer Salveson (Jon) of Wayzata, and Julie Buck (Bruce) of Maple Grove; his grandchildren Anders, Niels, Jorgen, Karsten, Soren, Finn, Jack, and Amalia; his sister, Mary Ann Sattervall (Frank) of St. Paul; and several nieces. We will miss his smiling eyes and teasing ways. We thank the staff and volunteers of the Silver Bay Veterans Home for the amazing care John received. A private memorial service celebrating John's life will be held for his immediate family. Memorials may be given to the Silver Bay Veterans Home or to Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners.
