Frederick Robert Gamble

Gamble, Frederick Robert passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 1, 2015 at the NC Little Home in Edina, at the age of 88. Born in 1927, Fred grew up in South Minneapolis and graduated from Blake School in 1945. He then served in the US Naval Reserve until August 1946, half of that time in the Pacific. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1950 and began a career in finance. After managing the office for a national investment firm from 1960 until 1972, he returned to Piper Jaffray and ran a consulting business. From 1990 until his retirement at the age of 82 he served individual clients. Fred is past President of the Dartmouth Alumni Association Northwest; past President Investment Bankers' Association 9th Federal Reserve District; past Trustee Northrop Collegiate School; served on the Vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church, Excelsior; for years was active in finances of St. Martin's By The Lake Episcopal Church; past Governor Minneapolis Club; past President Minikahda Club; past Board Member WCAL Public Radio. Fred loved his time at Dartmouth College and for many years has been active in the college's enrollment affairs. Fred was celebrated widely as a wonderfully giving and warm person, who shared his joy of life on a daily basis. He is survived by his loving family: wife Carol, children Elizabeth, William and Judy, son-in-law Peter Taylor, daughter-in-law Anne Labovitz, grandchildren Claire Taylor and Erin Vander Schaaf and Henry, Isabella and Edward Gamble and Great-Grandson Liam Vander Schaaf.
