Bryan S. Eichenwald

Eichenwald, Bryan S. age 71, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2015. Jane Helsing, his wife of 26 years, was by his side. Bryan grew up in St. Louis and south Florida, and after high school he served in the Air Force for four years. He began his career with Northwestern Bell as an outside rep in Duluth, MN and held management positions in Laverne, Winona, Duluth and St. Paul before rotating to AT&T Residence Marketing in N.J. After deregulation in telecommuni-cations Bryan took advantage of new opportunities, holding various VP positions at ETI, TCG, MFS and Covad. He earned his Executive MBA in June 1981 from Pace University where he was co-valedictorian of his class. After early retirement he and Jane became snowbirds, spending winter months in Stuart, FL. There he became a favorite AARP tax volunteer while also pursuing the elusive low handicap in golf. Traveling, often to far-away places, with Jane and other family and friends was another way he satisfied his intellectual curiosity. He loved his family and found much satisfaction in watching his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews grow. He joined Temple Israel in Duluth, MN, also his daughter's temple, as he reconnected with his Jewish roots and faith. Bryan lived - and truly lived - with kidney cancer for over 16 years. He never let treatments affect his outlook or lifestyle, and he served as a role model to many in that regard. Many thanks to his doctors at the Mayo Clinic (especially Dr. Quevedo); in Minneapolis (especially Dr. Mark Schmidt); and in Stuart. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jill Eichenwald Cornwell and Scott Lee-Eichenwald (Carla); grandchildren, Baillie, Hannah, Noah, Remington, Inga-Nissa and Anders-Oban; cousins, Sherryl Bowein (Tom), David "Butch" Mass and Stan Mass (Pat); half-sister Stephanie Babbitt; and many special nieces, nephews and other in-laws. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. NEXT SUNDAY, August 9th, at PEACE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 7624 Cedar Lake Rd., St. Louis Park. The family will receive visitors in the hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Arc Greater Twin Cities, 2446 University Ave. W, St. Paul, MN 55114; or Temple Israel - Rabbi's Discretionary Fund, 1605 E. 2nd St., Duluth, MN, 55812.
