Thomas James 'Buzz' Kennard

Kennard, Thomas James "Buzz" age 83, of Wascott, WI; died peacefully on July 26, 2015. He was born in St. Louis, MO, and lived his formative years in Woodstock, MN. After traveling with work throughout the US, settled down in Coon Rapids, MN, before retiring in northern Wisconsin. Preceded in death by his son, Tom, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Agnes, and 7 children: Kitty, Becky, Cindy, Bill, Kristi, Joe, Marty, as well as 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children, that he loved whole-heartedly. Tom excelled in math, and during the Korean War served the U.S. Air Force in the new field of radar and electronics. Post-service he was a pioneer in the development of computer technology during the time when one computer filled an entire room. He worked as an electronic engineer for Burroughs and Sperry/ Unisys amongst several other employers. Tom's interests included a hobby farm with a variety of barnyard animals and a huge vegetable garden. He had his father's carpentry skills and passion to build things, most recently a serene chapel in the woods. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed to hunt and fish. In retirement, he volunteered in his community as a fireman, handyman, and raised money for college-bound Wascott students. He never missed his morning coffee with the Wascott Men's Garden Club at the corner store. Tom's affection and wit provided a true role model for his family's multi-generations. His love & hard-working spirit will live on in all who knew and were influenced by him. Celebration of his life will be at Wascott Town Hall and historic church at noon on July 30, corner of Highway 53 and County Road T.
