Patricia Coan (Spencer) Ringer

Ringer, Patricia Coan Spencer age 88, died peacefully at her Minneapolis home on July 2, 2015. She was born in Minneapolis in 1927 to Olivia Carpenter Coan and Folwell Welles Coan. She attended Northrop Collegiate School and graduated from Westover in 1945 and from Mills College in 1949. She was a lifelong supporter of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Minnesota Orchestra, Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, the Animal Humane Society and Washburn Center for Children. She married F. Patterson Spencer of Minneapolis in 1949, who died in 1964. In 1965 she married Edwin F. "Ted" Ringer who predeceased her in 2004. They moved to Minneapolis from Wayzata in 1973. She was a former member of the Woodhill Country Club, the Minikahda Country Club and Encampment Forest Association and was a member of the Minneapolis Club upon her death. She was a member of the Junior League of Minneapolis, did volunteer work for Planned Parenthood and served on the Northrop School PTA. She is survived by her two daughters: Nan Spencer of Denver, CO, and Sarah Spencer (Patrick Ireland) of Carmel Valley, CA, and three stepchildren: Darby Ringer of Seattle, WA, Ted (Mary Liz) Ringer of Longmont, CO, and Norie (Alec) Hart of Bariloche, Argentina, and their two children, Marina (Pedro) de Boyd and Ryon Hart; and brother Eugene Coan of Lacey, WA. She was preceded in death by her sister Olivia Jones of Denver, CO in 2014. The family wishes to thank her caregivers from Visiting Angels/Wayzata, especially Kellie Hoffman and Marie Gabrielle Lidji, Fairview Hospice, Kathy Beckman, RN, CNP, and the Jones Harrison staff for their caring service. Private interment at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis. It is requested that there be no gifts or flowers.
