Carlson, Lawrence F. (Larry) age 73, went peacefully to his Lord in the early hours of April 19, 2015 following a year-long battle with cancer. He was born to Dr. Lawrence Carlson and his wife, Ethel Johnson Carlson, both of whom predeceased him. He is survived by Mary Jo Anderson Carlson, his high school sweetheart and cherished wife of nearly 18 years; sister Jane Ceravolo of Sacramento CA; stepsons Jon Hubner (Brandi) of St Clair MN and Tony Hubner of Royal Oak MI, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Larry, a graduate of Minnehaha Academy, earned his BA and MA degrees from Antioch University in Los Angeles where he lived from 1964 to 2007 when he and Jo returned to Minneapolis. As a man of faith Larry served his churches in both Los Angeles and Minneapolis as a deacon, choir member and leader of various groups. As a man of music he found joy in singing, from sacred choral music to his "Hymn of the Day" which he would sing throughout each day. Membership in choirs gave him the pleasure of singing great music in some of the great venues in both the US and Europe. As a man of family he enjoyed being part of large extended families especially after his return to Minneapolis. He will be greatly missed and dearly remembered.
