Duane Gus Thompson was born on August 25, 1926 in Hensel, North Dakota, son of Gustav and Freda Thompson. While he was raised in Elm Creek, Manitoba, Canada, he chose to live his adult life in Minnesota, United States, after enlisting in the US Army in 1946. Duane was united in marriage with Josephine (Castoldi) Thompson on October 19, 1952. Duane was a true entrepreneur, making his own career in promotional marketing/advertising. Duane loved to play golf and was very good at it, an excellent athlete and a club champion! He especially loved playing with the men in the "Bandits" at Apache Wells Country Club in Mesa, AZ, and with close friends at both the Lost Spur Country Club and Mendakota Country Club in Minnesota. Duane was a humble man and never liked to talk about his accomplishments. Instead, he was more interested in hearing about others. He was a remarkable man and his wit, humor, guidance, wisdom, and advice will surely be missed by his family and friends. Duane will always be in our hearts, memories, and prayers. May he rest in peace.
