Kathleen R. 'Kitty' Kerber

Kerber, Kathleen R. "Kitty" age 80, of Poultney, Vermont, died on Monday, March 30, 2015, at her home in Poultney, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 13, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN, the youngest daughter of Herbert James and Evelyn Wood. Kathleen graduated from St. Margaret's in Minneapolis, MN. She also attended one year of Bible school. On October 18, 1952, Kathleen married her soul mate and the love of her life, Harry Kerber. Together they raised ten children and enjoyed their 53 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Kathleen devoted her life to taking care of her family. A housewife doesn't come close to describing the amazing woman she was. Not only did she raise her own children but played a big part in raising some of her grandchildren as well. Kitty loved to garden, knit and always came up with fresh hobbies, such as raising sheep and spinning wool! She loved her flower gardens and had quite the green thumb. Kathleen always had a kind and giving heart and taught her family to be the same. She loved to volunteer and most recently was involved with the Young At Heart Senior Center. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for the Poultney fire department. She is survived by her brother Jim Wood and his wife Kay, her sister Helen Thomas, her children and their spouses: Ann (Kerber) & Paul Simons, Barb (Kerber) & Ric Reith, Dale and Marie Kerber, Cheryl (Kerber) & Rick Hilk, Elaine (Kerber) Bongard, Floyd and Margaret Kerber, Pauline Kerber (wife of her late son, Glen), Helen (Kerber) Fox, Charles Kerber and Timothy & Amy Kerber, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathleen was predeceased by Harry, her husband of 62 years, her parents, her sister Elizabeth Froberg and brother-in-law Raymond Froberg Sr., brother-in-law Bud Thomas, her son Glen Kerber and by her grandchildren: Carol, Meredith, Thomas and his wife Melissa, Joy, Jessica and James Kerber. Friends and family are invited to call between the hours of 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, April 4th at the Poultney firehouse. A memorial service and reception will follow at 1 pm.
