Florence E. (Holmay) Knopick

Knopick, Florence E. (Holmay) age 98, of Farmington, MN, and formerly of Winona, was called by the Lord to her home in heaven on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the Trinity Terrace Care Center in Farmington. She was born on December 29, 1916, in Winona, the daughter of Thomas and Frances (Olszewski) Holmay. After graduating from high school, Florence began employment with Watkins, Inc., in Winona, and it was there that she met the love of her life and true partner, Stanley J. Knopick. Florence and Stanley were united in marriage on August 16, 1941, at St. John Nepomucene Church in Winona. Stanley preceded her in death on January 1, 2010.Florence held administrative positions with the William Lindquist Law Office, the Winona Law Enforcement Center, and at Winona State University. She was a life-long member of St. John Nepomucene Church, and was also a member of the Westfield Golf Club and the Hill Top Ballroom Dance Club. She will be remembered as an avid reader, who enjoyed novels and reading several daily newspapers. To say that Florence loved playing Bridge would be an understatement - she loved Bridge. She especially enjoyed playing at Westfield, and would often begin in the morning, and play until late at night. Some of her favorite pastimes also included watching the Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and ballroom dancing. Florence was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, and entertaining. Her favorite role in life was that of being a wife, mom, and grandma - she will be deeply missed. Florence is lovingly survived by her children: David (Linda) Knopick, Mankato, MN; Stephanie (Kenneth) Streeter, Plymouth, MN; Marsha Anderson, Farmington, MN; and Laurie (Ron) Ehlert, Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren: Kari, Karin, Kristin, Sara and Megan; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Logan, Katie, McKenzie, Lucas and Stella; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; brothers: Joseph, Frank, William and John Holmay; and sisters: Sarah Holmay and Esther Teebo. Florence's family will receive relatives and friends at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 201 Mankato Avenue in Winona, on Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 4 PM until 7 PM, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6 PM. Preliminary Services and Prayers will be held at 10 AM on Friday, March 6, 2015, from the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, and then in procession to St. John Nepomucene Church, 558 East Broadway, Winona, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM. The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate. Florence will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Pallbearers will be: Brian Goodwin, Chuck Keller, Ron Ehlert, Jack Keller, and Mark Johnstone. The family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the Humane Society.
